unihanconver - Unicode Traditional/Simplified Chinese Converter
unihanconver -t|-s [-b] input_file [output_file]
This program converts any given file from/to traditional/simplified Chinese scripts. If no output_file is specified, then STDOUT is used.
Only the chinese characteres found in the input-file will be processed, leaving other characters untouched. This makes it possible to convert text which mixes Chinese and alphabetical scripts.
Please note that the program is suitable for UTF-8 to UTF-8 translation only; it does not convert between different Chinese encodings, such as GB-2312, Big-5, etc. The original file should be a valid UTF8-encoded text file.
-t, --tradi, --traditional
Convert to Traditional Chinese.
-s, --simpli, --simplified
Convert to Simplified Chinese.
-b, --best
Try to guess the best suitable character in case of several choices (EXPERIMENTAL FEATURE).
-v, --version
Display the version of the program, in one single line.
-h, --help
Display some useful information about program’s usage.
- Perl 5.8.8 or higher.
This program is by no means accurate enough to guess the right character when a complex sentence is given for translation. The resulting text should always be checked by a human.
